About My Work
I paint with
two minds
One is drawn to the freedom of abstraction-the loose brushstrokes, the unexpected textures, the joyful “accidents” that only happen when you let go.
The other craves structure and precision. As a dentist with a deep understanding of anatomy, I find satisfaction in the details of figurative work-the curve of a muscle, the play of light on form.
This inner push and pull has led me to a style I call Abstract Realism—a blend of two worlds. My backgrounds often live in abstraction, full of movement and emotion, while the subjects emerge in realistic detail. It’s in the contrast, the conversation between chaos and control, that my work finds its voice.

I’m Lisa Rouse, a cosmetic dentist with a decades-long career dedicated to crafting beautiful smiles through the principles of harmony and aesthetic precision. This deep understanding of proportion and balance has naturally informed my evolution as
an artist.
Although I’ve always had a creative spirit, I didn’t begin painting on canvas until 2020. I experience the world through texture, harmony, and color drawing on knowledge, instinct, and emotion to bring my inner vision to life. What I paint is not just what I see with my eyes, but also what I imagine and feel. Creating art makes me feel both grounded and inspired it’s what drives me and soothes me.
